Book Review: Royally Screwed By Emma Chase

Title: Royally Screwed

Author: Emma Chase

Series: Royally #1

Genre: YA, romance, contemporary, comedy

Rating:

Nicholas Arthur Frederick Edward Pembrook, Crowned Prince of Wessco, aka His Royal Hotness, is wickedly charming, devastatingly handsome, and unabashedly arrogant; hard not to be when people are constantly bowing down to you. Then, one snowy night in Manhattan, the prince meets a dark haired beauty who doesn't bow down. Instead, she throws a pie in his face. Nicholas wants to find out if she tastes as good as her pie, and this heir apparent is used to getting what he wants. Dating a prince isn't what waitress Olivia Hammond ever imagined it would be. There's a disapproving queen, a wildly inappropriate spare heir, relentless paparazzi, and brutal public scrutiny. While they've traded in horse drawn carriages for Rolls Royces, and haven't chopped anyone's head off lately, the royals are far from accepting of this commoner. But to Olivia, Nicholas is worth it. Nicholas grew up with the whole world watching, and now Marriage Watch is in full force. In the end, Nicholas has to decide who he is and, more importantly, who he wants to be: a King... or the man who gets to love Olivia forever.

MY REVIEW:

This book is actually really enjoyable. As a reader that always love a good Cinderella romance, a book on a prince which swept a feisty New-Yorker girl off her feet would be perfect. And it was. Just from the beginning the book made a good impression in my eyes with the hilarious line from how our girl, Olivia responded to a bunch of truck drivers hitting on her on the street:

"Looking good, baby!!" he yells in a Brooklyn accent so thick, you think he was trying to make fun of people with Brooklyn accents. he wags his tongue. "Lemme suck on those sweet jugs. Could use a little extra hot milk to go with my coffee."

Ewww.

He holds onto the back of his truck with one hand while grabbing and rubbing his crotch with the other. Jesus, guys are gross. If this were half -decent revenge porn, he'd fall into the bin and the trash compactor would mysteriously turn on, crushing and slicing him into oblivion. Unfortunately, this is just my life.

But I'm a New Yorker, born and raised. So there's only one appropriate reaction.

"F**k you!" I shout at the top of my lungs, lifting both hands above my head, middle fingers raised loud and proud.

"Anytime, sweetheart!"

As the truck rumbles down the street, I let loose every obscene hand gesture I know. The thumb-against-teeth flip, the chin flick, the horns, and the raised-first bicep slap, also known as the Italian Salute - just like Grandma Millie used to make.

The only problem is, when I smack my arm, I also drop the leash, and Bosco takes off like a bat out of hell.

As I'm buttoning my blouse than trying to run at the same time, I think, God, this is a crappy day. And it's not even five a.m yet.

But that was just the tip of the crapberg.

I laughed out loud when I read this, and didn't stop laughing for a long time. It just got to me, and it was hilarious. And this is just a sneak peak of all the hilarious humor in this book. But I do have to warn people that the swearing and the language is a little inappropriate. I skipped anything uncomfortable, so I still manage to enjoy this book. (I googled), and download it and read it for free. But I chose to buy this book, and deeply regretted it. No matter how good this book is, 5 dollars is way to expensive for a billionaire romance novel. So even if I did enjoyed this book and this book as many good factors over bad ones, I still regretted spending my money on it. The price itself is what costed this book a star, and if I wasn't feeling generous might just give it 3 stars or 3.5 stars because I really think it was overpriced. Anyway, this book is hilarious, entertaining, with hot and steamy romance. But the only thing I'm not happy about this book is its price. I can find this book literately anywhere online and read it for free, but I still paid 5 dollars. Yeah, not worth it.

But yes, due to language, I do recommend this to older readers :P
